Monte Castello di Vibio

Montecastello di Vibio, is the closest town to the Mulberry House. It is a historical town with a number of interesting places to visit. Teatro della Concordia, the smallest theatre in the world, built in 1809,

Chiesa di Santa Illuminata also called Del Crocefisso  where you can find a wooden sculpture dating from the 15th century. Torre Campanaria, Monumento ai caduti and Piazza Vittorio Emanuele ll, are also worth visiting, from the panoramic terrace of the Piazza you can enjoy the views of the Umbrian countryside with the mountains of Lazio and Abruzzo in the distance.

In Piazza Vittorio there is a church called Chiesa Parrocchiale dei  Ss Filippo e Giacomo built in the 18th century in which there is a fresco of the Madonna dei Portenti  with San  Carlo Borromeo, a well made in the 16th century, and Torre  di Porta di  Maggio which are evidence of the old ruins of this village. The narrow alleys and the stunning views of this medieval village are not only interesting but a nourishment for the soul!


The renowned medieval town of Todi, also known as the world’s most livable city”, is in the province of Perugia and is perched on a tall two-crested hill overlooking the east bank of the river Tiber, commanding distant views in every direction.

Located a few kilometers from Perugia and Orvieto, the town is surrounded by three walls, Etruscan, Roman and Medieval, which contain innumerable treasures.

Important sites to visit in Todi are: Piazza del Popolo, in the centre of town. Some of the most important buildings in this historic town are found in this piazza as Palazzo del Capitano, Palazzo dei Priori and Palazzo Comunale.

Inside Palazzo Comunale are located two museums and an art gallery, Museo Lapidairio, Pinoteca Civica and Museo Etrusco Romano.

The Duomo, founded in 1100 AD on the ruins of the temple dedicated to the god Apollo, has an entrance with an impressive long staircase and a beautiful Roman facade.

Close to the Duomo is the church Chiesa di San Fortunato, dedicated to the Patron Saint of the town and built in 1200 AD. Inside the church is the tomb of the humanist poet, Jacopone Da Todi as well as a beautiful painting by Masolino Da Panicale.
